Proud to be British. Not a US vassal state.

It is amazing that whilst all this faux patriotism goes on we actually have a lot of people trying to ape the USA. Believing that a nation which has almost abandoned truth for fact free discourse is right for us. Well I am:

🇬🇧 Proud to be British. Not a vassal state.
🇬🇧
While some chase applause abroad by talking down our country, it's worth looking at the facts. The constant comparison to the US often misses a crucial point: on key measures of a healthy society, the UK comes out ahead.
Here’s what that looks like in numbers:
➡️ Safety: The US population is 5x larger than the UK's, but has 27x more homicides. We chose a different path.
➡️ Healthcare: In the US, over 500,000 families a year are bankrupted by medical bills. Our NHS isn't perfect, but it protects every one of us from that fear. REFORM want a US style system.
➡️ Education: 16% of UK adults face challenges with functional literacy. In the US, that figure is a staggering 54%. We invest in our people. Only 4% of our Kids are privately educated and still we are Brighter than the average American,
➡️ Public Health: US adult obesity rates are at 41%. In the UK, it's 26%. We still have a serious issue to tackle, but the scale is fundamentally different.
Our country has its challenges, without a doubt. WE have a Media nad Right Wing Parties working really hard to exaggerate those issues. Never mind the facts they say " How do you feel?"
Let's solve our issues as Britain, by looking at what works here—not by idolising a US model that, on these fundamental issues, clearly doesn't.
Time to recognise our own strengths and build a future that works for Britain. Not look backwards at a BRitain that never was or ape a USA that is a hot mess under Trump
